How it works

Our process is designed to be stress free

Thousands of Kiwis pay too much tax every year. As an IRD registered tax agent, it's our job to get your money back for you. So if you've earned wages or a salary in New Zealand at any time in the last five years, we can check if you're owed a tax refund.

You Submit your application

You'll need your IRD number and some basic details about your income and work.

We do the maths

We'll work out if you're entitled to any tax refunds in the past five years.

We file your form

If you owe IRD tax we won't file the form. If there's no refund, we won't charge you a fee.

You get your tax refund

Once we've checked things, we'll quickly transfer your money, less our fee.

MyTax tax refund process

Submit application

All you need to do is take 5 minutes to fill out our application form with some basic information.

You will need to have your IRD number, driver’s licence and bank account number handy, along with some details regarding your income and work.

We do the maths

We receive your application, and quickly calculate whether you have any tax refunds owed to you from the past 5 years.

We file your form

We prepare and file your tax returns with the Inland Revenue Department, only for the years you are owed a refund.

If we find that you don’t have a refund owing, and instead you owe the IRD tax, we will stop the process so you can be sure they won’t hear from us.

Remember, if you’re not owed a refund, we don’t charge you a fee!

You get your tax refund

The IRD pay your refund into our trust account. We check your refund, complete the required paperwork and send your refund by cheque or direct credit to your bank account, less our fee.
