The NZ Herald reported today in this article about a new book by Professor Rob Salmond, on the International comparability of our top tax rates against other OECD countries. Professor Salmond outlines that our top tax bracket of 33% is lower than all other 27 countries in the OECD, and makes note that our GST system is one of the most comprehensive in the world.
It makes interesting reading, and outlines the large cuts in top personal tax rates that New Zealand has experienced in the last two decades and the applicability of GST across income brackets. See the article for more information on Professor Salmond’s tax book and its findings.
